Official Opening of Thomas Telford Corpach Marina
On a stunning sunny day in Lochaber, we were thrilled to see Thomas Telford Corpach Marina officially opened yesterday by HRH Princess Royal.
This project valued at around £3.5m started on site in June 2020. Our remit including managing the design and construction of the marine and civil engineering works to construct a new car park and slipway, building works to provide a new marina facilities building including café and visitor centre, and the installation of breakwaters and pontoons to provide 45 berths. In addition we also secured and managed the funding bids on behalf of CRC.
The aims of the project are to stimulate regeneration within the communities of Caol and Corpach, neighbouring Fort William, and the wider Lochaber area, and generate significant economic and social benefits. The marina will be owned by the community, through the Caol Regeneration Company, a registered charity, and will be run as a community enterprise.
Project Manager Shona MacLeay comments “After a number of delays predominately due to the impacts of Covid-19 on both funding availability and supply chain pressures – we are delighted to see the facility officially opened and we hope for many happy years of using this fantastic facility for both residents locally and visitors from afar.
We have worked with our client Caol Regeneration Company to overcome a number of hurdles and we are delighted to see this community marina open its doors. The CRC board and the TTCM board have worked tirelessly over the last decade to ensure this project reaches completion. On-board since January 2017, NLC have thoroughly enjoyed working with the team and we wish them every success as the Thomas Telford Corpach Marina enters its next chapter”.
