HELLO, 2025!

We are delighted to commence 2025 with some exciting projects at varying stages from commencement to completion!

Works have been continuing to progress well at Mowi Blar Mhor with phase 2 of the project. We are nearing completion & ready for handover, with works to the new staff facilities and extended processing area also progressing well.

The team successfully completed a client shutdown of the factory mid-January which enabled the breakthrough between phases 1 & 2 of the factory. This will eventually lead to a doubling in the production capability for this Mowi Scotland factory.

Sarah has been working on a joint project with Innovation Norway – welcoming a Aquaculture delegation this week to Scotland. This event brings together leading experts from Scotland and Norway to share insights on key developments and identify areas for partnership and growth.

Mairi has been working on a project on behalf of Net Zero Technology Centre exploring the technical feasibility, ecological impact and challenges of farming and producing seaweed for biofuel. Working with our trusted partners we are looking forward to completion of this project in coming months.

Over the last few months we have supported several clients not just with project management but also with Marine Fund Scotland grant applications and managing the claims process. A key part of supporting our clients with delivering projects is ensuring they have the necessary funding streams in place to reach successful completion. Whether that may be the initial feasibility study or to complete the final phase of construction to take their project to the next level.

Over the last 3 years we have secured our clients £12 million+ in grant support of their projects, ranging from innovation/R&D projects in the aquaculture sector to new community facilities for local charities.

Following securing of funding, administration supporting in the claims and reporting process often proves very beneficial for our clients.

Late 2024 a new member joined our team! Greig Cameron started with NLC in November 2024 as a Graduate Project Engineer. He has a first-class honours degree in Mechanical Engineering and Power Plant Systems (BEng) at Glasgow Caledonian University. Since commencing work with NLC, Greig has been working closely with Greg on the MOWI redevelopment in Fort William. This has included site supervision and preparing tender documents for various contractors.

As part of his first year of work with NLC, Greig will undertake training in 3D Revit models for Architectural, Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical and Process design. As part of this he will produce 3D models of client facilities and projects from existing 2D CAD drawings (and site surveys as required).

Neil and team – never one to turn down a bike challenge – took part in the legendary Strathpuffer 24 hour mountain-bike endurance event held every year in the Highlands of Scotland in the middle of winter!! Enjoyed by all – and raring… almost.. to go for next year!
